Emir is a Philippine film, focusing on a girl that becomes a domestic helper in the fictional oil-rich Arab Nation of Yememeni.

PLOT

Amelia is from a poor Ilokana family that decides to go abroad and find her fortune and also help her family. She became one of a maids in a Royal Family in Saudi Arabia, which is running out of time for the wife of the Sheikh is giving birth to a child. The child was a newborn son and the wife of the Sheikh asks Amelia to take care of the baby named Ahmed, which she agreed into. Amelia take care of the baby which she grew fond of, she taught her to speak tagalog and play "tumbang preso. After twelve years of giving service, Amelia's life have been better. Unfortunately, a war is coming so the Royal Family was forced to leave the palace incase they were attacked. When the palace was attacked, some of the maids and even the wife of the sheikh was killed but Amelia and Ahmed managed to esacpe by going to a secret door in the house and with the help of Boyong the driver and went in a faraway place and hide. But one day, men riding in horses took Ahmed and Amelia never saw Ahmed again. With the help of the government, Amelia got home and she holds her own business and lived a good life. Later she learned that the men that took Ahmed were orders by the Sheikh. Years later, someone with a familiar voice called her "Yaya" and she saw Ahmed who have fully grown up. The film ends with Ahmed,Amelia and Boyong in Amelia's house. Boying even gave Amelia a gold necklace whom he's shy to give because he never had a chance to.
